Following extensive consultations, the China Building Materials Market Association and the Australia–Asia Chamber of Commerce and Industry have officially signed the China–Australia Building Materials Industry Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement.
The agreement aims to integrate resources from both China and Australia, promote the entry of high-quality Chinese building materials into the Australian and broader Asian markets, and support the high-quality development of the regional construction industry.

Background of the Agreement
Australia is currently facing a significant housing shortage. The government has set a target to construct approximately 1.2 million new homes over the next five years. However, shortages of skilled construction labor and declining productivity have posed challenges to achieving this goal.
At the same time, China’s building materials industry possesses strong manufacturing capabilities, well-established supply chains, and a wide range of products that meet international building standards. Expanding into overseas markets through international cooperation has become an important pathway to achieve complementary advantages.

Under the agreement, both parties will focus on the following areas of cooperation:
Promoting the entry of high-quality Chinese building materials products into the Australian market;
Assisting Chinese building materials products in obtaining relevant Australian certifications;
Establishing Chinese building materials display and sales platforms in Australia (both offline and online);
Organizing China–Australia building materials exhibitions, industry exchanges, and business matchmaking activities;
Facilitating cooperation between Chinese building materials enterprises and Australian architectural firms, developers, and construction companies;
Promoting collaboration in green building materials, prefabricated construction, and sustainable development.
